Alabama Online Historical Newspapers Page Updated and Complete!

The Alabama Online Historical Newspapers page has recently been updated and is complete (for the time being!). It now contains links to every known complete online digitized newspaper for Alabama, covering the years 1813 to 2016, and featuring 134 titles from 43 communities in 35 of Alabama's 67 counties. These digitized newspapers are located in 15 resources (5 subscription, 10 free), including ADAH Digital Collections, Alabama Mosaic, Ancestry, Birmingham Public Library, The Florala News, GenealogyBank, Google News Archive, Internet Archive, Jacksonville State University, the Library of Congress's Chronicling America, NewspaperArchive, Newspapers.com, Old Fulton NY Postcards, SmallTownPapers, and The Southern Courier. Friday Finds in Newspapers: 28 November 2014

Recently, I found the following articles regarding historic newspapers:

• The Oregonian's historic archives: Treasures we found when we moved by David Stabler at OregonLive
• Sacred Heart Review by David Richtmyer at John J. Burns Library's Blog - this Catholic newspaper published in Cambridge and Boston from 1888 to 1918 has been digitized and is now online
• South Dakota Digitizes Historic Newspapers at CBS Minnesota
• Newspaper archive added to University of Montevallo [Alabama] library at The Clanton Advertiser

Also:

• The Library of Congress' Chronicling America has updated 16 of its titles with more content. These include newspapers from California, Louisiana, and Michigan. 

Additions, Updates, and Corrections of U.S. Newspaper Pages

Over the past 10 months, I have slowly made many updates, corrections, and additions to the pages of the Online Historical Newspaper site, specifically the U.S. pages. For some time, I was unable to do any work on the site, as I had shoulder surgery shortly before Christmas 2013, and was in physical therapy until the spring.

This summer, I made the most changes on the site, but realized I have never posted an update. So here goes! You'll see many new and updated titles from the Library of Congress' Chronicling America site. I have everything updated for the states Alabama through Michigan from the Library of Congress, as of today.
