Friday Finds in Newspapers: 17 July 2015



Recently, I found the following articles and items regarding historic newspapers:

  • The National Library of Australia's Trove has updated several hundred of its titles with more content. These include newspapers from all six states, the Australian Capital Territory, and the Northern Territory.
  • The Library of Congress' Chronicling America has updated 56 of its titles with more content from Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
  • The Oregon Digital Newspaper Program has added 11 titles to its collection from the cities of Albany, Astoria, Heppner, Hood River, Monmouth, Pendleton, Salem, and Spray.
  • Since March, GenealogyBank has added 444 new historical digitized titles and updated 46 historical digital titles with more content. They have also added transcribed obituaries from 78 new non-digitized, current newspapers. These include newspapers from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
  • In February, the Fulton (New York) Postcard Old Newspaper site updated its digitized collection with 105 titles. These include 62 titles from New York, as well as titles from Arkansas, California, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and the country of Sierra Leone.
